Sleep Deprived

I am not tired because I have been having sleepless night with Mallorie...It is because of work.  Normally I work Monday thru Friday but since we are still short staffed I am having to work overtime.  I get out of work at 8 am on Fridays and don't have daycare on Fridays because I usually stay up and then sleep all night to flip my schedule to a "normal" schedule.  So when I do have to work I stay up all day then catch a nap and then come back into work.

I just figured out that since Thursday at 3:30 pm until Saturday night when I go to bed I will have gotten about 4 hours of sleep.  That is 4 out of 52 hours.  Now I understand why I am tired.  It does amaze me how the body can adapt and get use to little or no sleep.  Here are a few things I use to stay awake...

I love iced coffee.  For some reason I do not like it hot but I LOVE it over ice or blended.  Yummy!  I was so happy with McDonald's came out with the Mocha Frappe.  Also I always have a something to snack on in the car for the ride home.  I drive about 45 minutes each way to work so sometimes I get really sleepy while driving.  I have found that if I have something to munch on it helps to keep me awake.  What do you do to stay awake when you are tired?

Wordless Wednesday (one day late)

Wordless Wednesday
These are side by side pictures of my daughter and I.  I never really thought that she look like me and that she looked more like my hubby.  These pictures have changes my thought on who she looks like.

Do you think we look alike?

Homemade Baby Food

Tonight I made Homemade Baby food for Mallorie.  She is not eating it yet but it stays good in the freezer for up to four months.  I use a Blog that I follow for general instructions but I also altered it a little.  Here is my first tutorial for Homemade baby food.

Butternut Squash

First cut the Squash in half and remove the seeds and "guts"

Place the squash "meat" down and add a little water to help it bake while in the oven.

Bake at 400 degrees
For one hour
You will be able to tell that they are done when you can poke them with a fork easily.  Then remove them from the oven and let them cool off a little.
Then scoop the squash off of the peel.  It comes off pretty easily.
Put the squash into the Blender. (I also used a baby food mill for some.  I want to see how it turned out using both.  It works great either way.)  I added some Breast Milk to the Squash to make it a little creamer.  It also made it easier to puree.
Then spoon the pureed baby food into ice cube trays.  (It would have made more but I took some out for our dinner!)  Then put then in the freezer.  Once they are froze then put them in a gallon size freezer bag and take them out as you need them.  It was so easy (and cheap) to make.  I am excited to see how Mallorie likes them.
It is amazing what I can get done while she is sleeping.

Got Time?

Lately I have not had any time and I feel like I can not catch up on anything.  I have been working 58 + hours every week at work (third shift) so flipping my schedule around is hard.  With the holidays the last few months makes it feel like we have something to do every weekend.  My day starts at Midnight.  I start work at midnight and work until 8 am.  Then I drive home (45 minute drive) and then I feed the dog and let him out and eat breakfast myself.  I am lucky if I get up to bed by 9:30.  Then I usually see 10 am before I fall asleep.  Then i get up at 2:30 pm and get ready for the "Day" I then go and pick up Mallorie from Daycare and either go home or go to my parents house so my mom can watch her while I clean (I work with my dad two nights a week).  In the evenings the regular routine is Dinner, Dishes, pack lunches, feed Mallorie Cereal, then most nights a bath for her.  Then her night bottle and putting her down.  Then showers and off to bed for Brad and I.  We try to be up to bed by 9pm.  Then I get up at 10:30 pm to get ready for work and drive in.

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  The last two weeks I have been training our full timer at work and I just got an e-mail letting me know that they are conducting the background on a Part-timer!  That means I will only have to work 43 hours a week!!! I am pretty excited!  I can not wait for more family time.  This is the reason that I have not had many posts lately I will hopefully be back to crafting soon!

CADBURY CREME EGGS!!!!!

I LOVE these, and I can not believe I did not give in.  I was in Walgreens yesterday and I saw them in the seasonal candy aisle.  I could not believe it.  Usually they are not out until after Valentine's Day.  I saw them but thought to myself I really do not need one (or two or three!) maybe next time I am here.  Do you like Cadbury Creme Eggs?  What did you have will power over this week?

28 already!!!

So today I realized that my birthday is coming up in about a week and a half.  I have been asked what I want for my birthday and sadly I can not come up with anything.  The only thing that I came up with was a new sewing machine.  I really want to do more sewing and mine keeps acting up.  I have started to look into good machines that don't cost an arm and a leg but I was wondering if anyone had recommendations to a good, affordable sewing machine.

Also I can not believe I am going to be 28 years old.  I feel like I just graduated from High School.  It is crazy how times just flies.

Hairbows

I love to make hairbows.  I have made many for my neice and other little girls that I know.  I can also remember when I was growing up I almost always had a bow in my hair.  and most of these my mom made for me.  I have made so for Mallorie and she has got a pretty good collection so far.  So many infact I had to make a holder for them. So the other night I was playing with Mallorie in her room and I thought...I wonder if I can get her hair in a ponytail????  Sure enough I could and a pretty good one at that.

This can only mean one thing... I am going to have to make some more bows!!!!

Is there anyone out there?
