Cowgirl Party

For some reason the other day I got to thinking about my blog and I thought....I don't think I every posted about Mallorie's cowgirl birthday party.  I looked back and sure enough I didn't.  So here it is only four months late!!!

Mallorie loves to gallop around the house and pretend like she is a horse.  so when it can time to plan her party we thought what would be better than a cowgirl party.  I love to go all out for her birthday parties and my hubby thinks I am a little nuts but I was surprise how involved and how he jumped on board too!  We went to a western wear store about 40 minutes from our house and bought Mallorie some "real" cowgirl boots.  She LOVED them and wore them everywhere.  We invited family and friends to her party and we had a great time! I forgot to get a picture of the food but we had barnyard dogs (hot dogs), Cow chips (potato chips), Pig slop, (Pasta salad with olives, pepperoni, Italian dressing), Watermelon, Hay bales (rice krispie treats), and cow plops (no bake cookies)!

Sorry for picture overload!!!

I made a banner for her!  She also loved the cow print balloons!

We used hay bales as seating.

My Hubby made troughs for the drinks!

We even had a mechanical horse for the kids (or adults) to ride on!

We had ask everyone to wear their western wear to the party.  It was fun.  Even our dog Carter dressed up!

The Birthday Girl in her Cowgirl outfit!

We had friends and family over for a cookout.

Mallorie loved opening her gifts.

One of her favorite gifts was a quiet book my Mom made for her!

I made her cake again this year.  I cut the boot shape out of two 9x13 cakes.  It was pretty easy.  then I just piped the best I could a design on them to make them look like real boots!

Singing happy birthday!

I had goody bags for the kids to make.  Candy, little toys, and tattoos tied up in bandanas!

Mallorie was scared to ride the horse by herself so Daddy had to ride with her!

We got pictures of all the kids on the horse but this one just makes me laugh.  (it is so Lewis)

She had so much fun at her party!  (She even got a Jeep!)

Mallorie's First Birthday

I am late in posting the but I guess better late than never!  The weekend after Mallorie's birthday we had friends and family over for burgers and hot dogs on the grill and a lot of other yummy food.  I went with a flower theme for her party.

This is a shot of the table and some of the decorations before all of the food was out. (I was to busy to get one with all of the food out.)  I loved the idea of putting the silverware in mason jars decorated with ribbon.  I also made her garland.

I used pool noodles that I found at the dollar store.  I cut them about an inch thick and then strung them together with clear thread.  I love the was that it turned out and Mallorie loved to play with them after the party. I also decided to make her cake.  I spend a lot of time baking the cake and had big plans for it.  It was going to be a big daisy with Mallorie's cake in the middle part of the flower and a 9 inch round cake cut into sections (like a pie) for the petals.  The recipe called for me to frost each section of the cut 9 inch round cake that I had cut.  That was harder that I thought it would be.  the frosting pulled the cake apart and it was just a mess.  So at about 11 p.m. I cleaned up and just went to bed.  I decided to just make cupcakes for everyone else and still use the middle part for Mallorie's cake.

I got the idea for these from a blog that I follow.  In the end I LOVE the way that the cupcakes and Mallorie's cake turned out.  Mallorie loved her cake too!

She has such a fun day filled with friends, family, good food, presents, and celebrating.

I can not believe how quickly this year has gone and that my baby is one.  She is such a joy in our lives and can not imagine it without her.  Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

The Weekend

I am so happy!!!  I get this weekend off.  It has been a while since I have had two days off in a row.  My hubby is working Saturday so I am going to have a girl's day with my mom, sister-in-law and niece.  Just what I need.  I am just ready to get away from work for a little bit.  What are your plans for the weekend?

New Friends

New Friends

I have know Heidi since I was three years old.  Her family moved in two doors down from where I lived.  We have been friends ever since.  In Janurary we went out to eat for my birthday and I was going to tell her that we were expecting.  but she beat me to the punch.  Heidi told me that her and her husband were expecting in the begining of October.  So I then told her that I was going to tell her the same thing but we were due mid September.  We were so excited to be due only weeks apart.  Heidi and her husband found out that there were having a boy.  He was born exactly one month after Mallorie.  Bryce was born 10/13/10.  the other night I went over to see him again and I brought Mallorie.  It was so cute to see them together.  I can not believe how big Mallorie looks next to him.
Bryce was 7 lbs. 7 oz. when he was born.  So Mallorie had 2 pounds on him to start plus a month to grow.

I can not wait to watch them grow up together!
