Today was a stormy and rainy day. After I ran a few errands I had a long list of things I wanted to make. I had gotten some Rhubarb from my parents house so I looked to find recipes to use it in. I found a recipe for baby food (on my favorite baby food website.) I had to try it and luckily I had everything in the house to make it. Click here for the recipe. It is called Very Peary Berry Rhubarb and trust me it is really good. I used the apple juice option instead of sugar. I did not know how Mallorie would like the "sour" taste but she LOVED it. and when I tried it was not nearly as sour as I thought it would be. I also make Pear and Peach baby food for her. Now my freezer is stocked!

New Baby Food
Now that Mallorie is getting older I am going to be making a new batch of Baby Food. I use a great website that has a great variety of recipes. About a month ago we were running low on Green beans and Peas. I was surprised when my Husband said that he wanted to make a few batches for her. He is on board. I was just looking at the website to what I wanted to make in this next batch. I am thinking about Asparagus, Avacados, Beets, Broccoli, Cantaloupe, Grapes, Peaches, Pears, Kiwi, and Strawberry. Some of these dont keep well and I will have to make it when she eats it but they are really easy. I think I have mentioned it before but I love making her food. It is good for her and I know exactly what she is eating. And I think she likes it too. I have not found a food that she does not like.

New Baby Food
I am going to start making Mallorie some new baby foods. She has loved every food I have made so far. I am thinking about making Mango, Avocado, Sweet Potatoes, and maybe pears if I get time. I found a GREAT website that has a lot of great recipes and ideas. I will let you know how it goes and if she likes the new foods.

Homemade Baby Food
Tonight I made Homemade Baby food for Mallorie. She is not eating it yet but it stays good in the freezer for up to four months. I use a Blog that I follow for general instructions but I also altered it a little. Here is my first tutorial for Homemade baby food.
Butternut Squash
First cut the Squash in half and remove the seeds and "guts"
Place the squash "meat" down and add a little water to help it bake while in the oven.
Bake at 400 degrees
For one hour
You will be able to tell that they are done when you can poke them with a fork easily. Then remove them from the oven and let them cool off a little.
Then scoop the squash off of the peel. It comes off pretty easily.
Put the squash into the Blender. (I also used a baby food mill for some. I want to see how it turned out using both. It works great either way.) I added some Breast Milk to the Squash to make it a little creamer. It also made it easier to puree.
Then spoon the pureed baby food into ice cube trays. (It would have made more but I took some out for our dinner!) Then put then in the freezer. Once they are froze then put them in a gallon size freezer bag and take them out as you need them. It was so easy (and cheap) to make. I am excited to see how Mallorie likes them.
It is amazing what I can get done while she is sleeping.
